THE JOURNEY

Upon the return of light
you shall know
of how supple and pliant
is the world
in which you grow.

there's only
one principle
O dear human
we start at change
and end at change
and permanence is nothing
but lies untold.

so when in darkness
you bleed
or upon the withered leaves of Autumn
do you cede
hold your heart
and promise to believe
that change will come
to good and bad, equally.

And then, there will be days
when you shall see
a sun so bright
and warmth limitless with ease.

And, when you've understood the essence of time
remember to pair it with another important lesson of life.

As humans
we fall and rise
at the outset of being attached
a tendency which prepares as an unarmed soldier skillfully accepting demise.

As dust plays no good upon old books
As old memories wither away into the dungeon of forgetfulness
let go and detach yourself from people who aren't meant to be
For they will only bring you down
with the weight of past decisions and probable maybes.

We have but one heart
and a soul within so pure
don't waste it upon people
who've not made it ashore.
